Guest:  Mary-Ann Holm -President & Campaign Coordinator at Lucy's Edmonton Advocates' Project  (LEAP)

    https://www.facebook.com/groups/620850148031736

TOPICS: Lucy's Edmonton Advocates' Project (LEAP) Campaign Update. Call in with any questions about Lucy the Elephant. Follow Up on Documentary for Lucy coming in 2025.

Lucy has been at the Edmonton Valley Zoo for almost 47 years and turns 49 this year. This is an ominous milestone as zoo elephants rarely survive to their mid forties. Lucy suffers from a number of zoo induced ailments which will shorten her life expectancy. She has no other elephant companions, which is considered cruel by elephant experts due to their highly complex social needs. The harsh Edmonton climate is detrimental to her health and painful for her ongoing arthritis and foot disease.Lucy lives in a tiny concrete cell and is only allowed outdoors for short controlled walks, weather permitting which means many days she never gets out at all.

Please email to be a voice for Lucy:

Guests will be: Brenda Vettraino – President &  Gina Patolo  -Vice President of  Laws For Paws

Topics: (1) Recent successful Laws for Paws events (2) UPDATE: Court cases (3) Situation unfolding in Sterling Heights regarding cats (4). Detroit Dog Owner Crisis updates

    MISSION:

The only way we can protect the animals is by changing the laws. Animals are considered property so when someone kills or abuses them they get off easy. Also in Court cases, they have no rights because according to the Court system they have the same rights as a tree. Let's fight to get these laws changed now.

To promote the humane treatment and responsible care of animals, as well as to save and better the lives of animals by advocating for better animal protection and anti-cruelty laws with lawmakers and government bodies statewide. We must speak for those that cannot speak for themselves while we stand together to protect the animals!!

If you see Animal Cruelty-REPORT IT! - Be a part of the solutions, not the ongoing problems. Help to get the animals out of harm's way

Topic: Demand Investigation In The Release Of Love Into A Known Abusive Home

A heartbreaking story of a dog named Love. Love was a beautiful soul with tag #A-674349 at the San Antonio Animal Care Services. She was rehomed in May 2023 after a rescue tried to save her, only to be found a year later in a junk yard, mortally wounded and suffering. This innocent animal lost her life on May 11th, in a place supposed to provide refuge, the same place from which she was adopted -the San Antonio Animal Care Services.

Love's life was a testament to the pain and suffering endured by so many animals who are mistreated, neglected, and overlooked in our society.

Please, sign and share the petition for Love's Law...Do it for Love and all animals getting neglected and abused. Get them out of harm's way https://www.change.org/p/demand-investigation-in-the-release-of-love-into-a-known-abusive-home

Guest will be: Billie Groom Founder and CEO of Institute of Canine Psychotherapy

    https://www.facebook.com/upwarddogology

Topic: The dire situation in the canine rescue and welfare sectors. This would include shelters but also independent rescues and pet parents

The Institute of Canine Psychotherapy (I.C.P.) is the only educational forum teaching  psychotherapeutic practices for canines. Founder, Billie Groom, has dedicated over three decades to working with dogs over the age of six months, professionals, and pet lovers. Her extensive work in the field and studies led to the development of a method for dogs proven to prevent abuse, neglect, surrender, and euthanasia due to behaviorally related reasons.

The fields of cognitive science and canine cognition have made a significant contribution to our understanding of canine behavior, health and welfare. Experts, and animal lovers and pet parents, recognized that canines are sentient beings whose behaviors are driven by cognition and emotion. Behavioral experts, including behavioral veterinarians, are constrained by their allegiance to Conditioning methods, thus preventing them from discovering, exploring, or learning psychotherapeutic methods designed to induce processing and decision-making.

TOPIC: "Justice for Animals" Campaign update and all they are doing for animals in need

Animal cruelty has no boundaries, whether through neglect or intentional acts of violence against animals. Statistically, regions of the United States facing economic and educational challenges tend to foster neglect and intentional cruel treatment of animals. This is where our Justice for Animals campaign rises to the challenge, to promote an environment in which just laws are enacted and enforced.

"Justice for Animals" Campaign mission is to foster an environment & encourage the necessary actions that result in a greatly improved existence for all animals

HELP ANIMALS –Animal cruelty has no boundaries, whether through neglect or intentional acts of violence against animals. Help us protect them!

We are forging strong coalitions in the Deep South that incorporate law enforcement, judges, prosecuting attorneys, humane representatives, and citizens to impact county and municipal ordinances and state statutes on a grass roots level that comes from the heart of Mississippians.
